I got up with George at 0620. Made him a mini raisin bagel. He ate half. It was a cool morning, 60 degrees. He wore a sweatshirt and shorts. reminded me to take the traditional ‘first day of school’ picture.
Went outside to go to the bus stop with him and Mac. Stayed about 100 feet away from the bus stop with other parents as this was the ‘cool’ limit.
Today Nicole worked with Mac as she will be picking him up. They started with bubbles and worked on popping them and making eye contact. Nicole then moved on to the ball drop toy and worked on following directions putting them in the holes (fine motor) and then using the hammer to pound in. Hammer was the motivator or reward to placing the ball in. Mac needed a little help staying focused on placing the balls in. Also he seemed to really enjoy using the hammer, deep pressure activities. Maybe using musical instruments like wooden sticks, drum banging etc. to get that input. Nicole also did the tube making noise by pulling – focusing on language stimulation, cause and effect, task completion, fine motor putting the ends together and following simple direction – “Give Daddy a hat”.
We really worked on having him sign “all done”, clean up finish tasks, attend for linger amounts of time, signing “more”, popping bubbles, stop and go. Continue working on these tasks. Great job!
This is added later – a video from October 2007 – about 9 1/2 minutes long.
