The Liberator!

September 25th, 2007

I was on my way to work one day, when I went into the Continental Airlines Lounge in Newark. It was ABSOLUTELY PACKED. I finally found somewhere to sit, and began talking to the couple sitting there at the same table. They were on their way from a vacation in Italy to their home in the Bay Area. I was dead heading to Cologne. Before long it came to pass that they asked what I did. When I replied that I flew for FDX, he turned to his wife and said, “small world”. As it turns out – so does he! Further conversation turned towards the fact that he flies War-Birds on the side for the Collings Foundation. He then mentioned he’d be in Manchester in a few days. I told him I lived nearby and would love to come see the airplane. Instead of just seeing it, he invited George and me for a ride! A chance of a lifetime not to be passed up! This is the only B-24 still flying after being lovingly restored!

Thank you, Jimmy!
